Best Practices In Media Communications Seminar :)

So today we just had our FIRST ever seminar that our College Department hosted(yehey!) we kinda helped out( mainly because it is our College department who is hosting the event) it was held a while ago( August 03,2012) at the SPCF(Systems Plus College Foundation) Theater.
The  seminar was about "Best Practices in Media"

Our department invited the 4th year High School Students of the Basic Department at our school.

And I think the reason why our department invited the 4th Year High School students is because of Marketing because these people are all incoming College freshmen so why not Market our department to them right? :)

My classmate's butt looks big because of the dress she is wearing ;P

The first speaker of the Seminar, Mr.Sonny Lopez
Actually he is a VERY good speaker, I learned a lot from him. He talked about the good side of being a media man and that you have to fight for the truth and only the truth :)

I also learned from him that it is okay( in his perception) that Sex and other censored stuff to be aired on Television and radios because we can learn a lot from those topics :)

After that there was an intermission number by the First year ABCom, and literally my jaw dropped during this performance because The singer( who I believe is named Cams) is very GOOD!  she covered Love on Top by Beyonce', Price Tag by Jessie J and Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen! gawd! I hope I can sing like her :] I so ENVY her talent hihi ^^

After that it's the second and last speaker's turn.
okay so this was the time things got very interesting.
Mr.Ian Flora who was our speaker a while a go was very funny and it was more like he was acting in a theater play rather than giving a lecture to us. Though part of his presentation was the bad side of journalism like the death threats, the risk, libels and well death threats haha! he did pointed the "perks" of being a Journalist.
One of which is that you'll be able to travel around the world for free( it really depends though if where your boss wants to deploy you). And if your on Print Journ. you can do your job anywhere you want! haha

He also Bashed the BPO industry here, he said " Why study a four year Bachelors Degree if you're just gonna end up at a BPO company? and kapitbahay ko nga graduate lang ng grade 6 isang manager na sa isang callcenter eh, ang laki nga ng sahod niya"
that part was actually my favorite because I actually realized that it is not about the money you can get from your job but the skills and experiences and the fact that people will actually see you as a professional is the best thing that can ever happen  to your life. haha!
I wish he'll be back in our school for another seminar I can learn a lot from him :)

My favorite Slide from his presentation, I only liked it because of the "Jounalism rocks" thing :)

our Professors giving Mr. Flora's certificate after his presentation.

And finally after 4 hours the seminar is done! and I am so happy with this seminar because I have learned a lot from it! and this may be the best seminar I have participated in my life to date! hahaha
kudos to Ms. Joana Manio(Our adviser) for making this event possible! more events to come! Specially like this(which I believe is a successful one) haha!
